Dan Harmon Says The COMMUNITY Movie is Still Going to Happen

If any of you Community fans are still hoping that we will see a movie get made, the answer is yes. We’ve all been wondering if the “six seasons and a movie” would finally come to fruition, and now that we’ve got the six seasons all we need is that movie!

Creator Dan Harmon recently talked with The Wrap about the film and he reveales that he’s working with producers Justin Lin, and Joe and Anthony Russo to make it happen.

“I keep having conversations with the kinds of people that could make it happen. The Russo brothers moved from ‘Community’ to becoming industry shapers. So did one of our most popular directors, Justin Lin, who directed the first paintball episode.”

He went on to say that Justin Lin is one who is very excited about making the movie happen. Harmon says that Lin, who has directed three episodes of the series, “has always been jazzed about the idea of doing a ‘Community’ movie.” As you know, he has since directed several films in the Fast and Furious franchise along with Star Trek: Beyond. Harmon went on to say:

“I hope I’m not talking out of school by saying that. I’ll get together with him every once in a while, or we’ll have dinner, and we’re talking — we keep trying to figure out how to do this.”

“Those are the kinds of guys, the Russos, plus Justin, plus a humble little me — maybe there is a way to secure the money and the momentum to make something happen. But fingers crossed — don’t want to jinx it.”

According to Joel McHale, the original cast of Community would all be up for returning to make a movie if it happens with a script written by Harmon. With the talent and fanbase supporting this film, I don’t see how it can’t happen. I have faith that it will.

Awesome Fan-Made Trailer For a Ultimate Zack Snyder Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE

For those of you who would like to see a Zack Snyder directors cut of Justice League, this fan-made trailer will get you excited about the possibility. The trailer comes from CINEMAND and it’s really well made! The trailer consists of a ton of footage featured in the trailers for the film that weren’t included in the movie. The creator of the trailer explains:

Unfortunately, director Zack Snyder wasn’t able – because his very sad family situation – to finish the film he started, so his friend and Avengers-director Joss Whedon took over. Although Whedon’s intentions may have been good, the finished product isn’t the Justice League movie a lot of fans hoped for.

In the trailers, teasers, previews and tv spots for Justice League, a lot of footage was shown that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut that’s shown in the cinema’s now. Fans have started a petition to make Warner Bros. release a new and hopefully extended cut of Justice League, completely made by the original director of this super hero movie; Zack Snyder.

This special and EXCLUSIVE trailer contains around 95% footage that wasn’t a part of the cinema release. That means that 95% of this video is made by deleted, cut, shortened en reshoot scenes.

There are a lot of great shots that weren’t included in the final cut of the film and it makes me wonder even more how Snyder’s Justice League would have turned out. Check out the fan trailer and hit us up with your thoughts!

Jude Law’s CAPTAIN MARVEL Character Revealed to Be Mar-vell!

Well, that was fast! Shortly after it was revealed that Jude Law was in negotiations to take on a lead role opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel, Variety updated their post revealing who he will be playing!

In the original report, they said not much was known about who he would be playing. Now they are saying that he will play Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell! He becomes a mentor of sorts to Danvers is learning about her new crazy powers. This confirms previous rumors that we reported on in the past. It makes sense that Captain Mar-Vell would be in the film because In the comics, Danvers is saved by Mar-Vell after a Kree machine explodes and exposes her to Kree radiation. In the process, Danvers is infused with Mar-Vell’s superhuman powers. Here’s what the previous report said:

Though we don’t know if we’ll be seeing him on Earth as Dr. Lawson, we are told to expect to see a version of the Psyche-Magnitron accident from the comics and that accident will be responsible for altering her DNA and giving her powers. Furthermore, we are told that her unique half-Kree/half-human DNA will be used to explain why she hasn’t appeared to age since her disappearance, meaning they won’t need to age/de-age Brie Larson. Just like Thor and the Asgardians before her, Carol won’t necessarily age in the MCU.

The report also added that early drafts of the script “include references to her functioning as Ms. Marvel and that there will be a version of her early Ms. Marvel costume seen onscreen.”

Lots of cool stuff to look forward to! I love that Captain Marvel is going to include Mar-vell! Law is going to be great in the role!

The movie is set to be released on March 8, 2019.

HBO’s Trailer for Kit Harington’s Miniseries GUNPOWDER Tells The Story of Guy Fawkes

HBO has released an intense trailer for their upcoming three-part miniseries called Gunpowder, which tells the story of British activist Guy Fawkes. The series follows Fawkes and his team of provincial English Catholics as they plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in the early 17th century.

This miniseries looks really good and it has a solid cast that includes Kit Harington, Peter MullanMark GatissDerek Riddell and Liv Tyler.

Even though Guy Fawkes has become the main name associated with the Gunpowder plot, thanks to V for Vendetta, he actually played a minor role in it. The main guy who led the charge was Robert Catesby, and that is who Harington is playing. For some additional information on the Gunpowder treason plot Wikipedia says:

The Gunpowder Plot of 1605, in earlier centuries often called the Gunpowder Treason Plot or the Jesuit Treason, was a failed assassination attempt against King James I of England and VI of Scotland by a group of provincial English Catholics led by Robert Catesby. Although anti-Catholic legislation was introduced soon after the plot’s discovery, many important and loyal Catholics retained high office during King James I’s reign. The thwarting of the Gunpowder Plot was commemorated for many years afterwards by special sermons and other public events such as the ringing of church bells, which have evolved into the Bonfire Night of today.

Gunpowder already premiered on the BBC One in the U.K. and now it’s headed to HBO on December 18th, 2017 at 10pm.

BLADE RUNNER 2049 Director Denis Villeneuve Still Doesn’t Understand The Film’s Low Box-Office Numbers

Blade Runner 2049 is by far one of my favorite movies of this year. The story was compelling and the world that was created for the movie was solid and believable. The only faults that stood out to me were the long establishing shots seemed too long and Dave Bautista’s storyline as Sapper Morton was far too short. Both of these things can be excused:

  1. The long establishing shots are in the DNA of the first movie and it is only fitting that they be in the second movie.
  2. Bautista’s performance was so amazing that they didn’t want to dilute it with any more scenes than necessary. The pain and pride that you see in his eyes for the job he was left with was overwhelming. I hope that someone picks up his story and makes a movie or short story based on Sapper Morton.

Despite how I feel about the movie, it didn’t do as well domestically as was expected. Director Denis Villeneuve doesn’t understand what went wrong either. This is what he had to say to Yahoo! Entertainment about how such a critically acclaimed film could do so poorly at the box office:

“Honestly, I don’t know because we had the best critics. I’m still digesting it. I had the best critics of my life, I’ve never had a movie welcome like that, okay? At the same time, the box office in the United States was a disappointment, that’s the truth. Because those movies are expensive, and it will still make tons of money but not enough. I think the thing is that it’s maybe because people were not familiar enough with the universe, and the fact that the movie’s long. I don’t know, it’s still a mystery to me.”

With the money not rolling in like was expected, there is a silver lining to all of this. If you remember, the original film didn’t do as well as expected in its theatrical debut. It was only afterwards that it become the cult classic that we all love. Here is Villeneuve’s outlook on that:

“That’s the first thing one of my sons told me: ‘Papa you honor the first movie until the very end.’ Because the first movie had the same fate. The original Blade Runner when it came out wasn’t a success, and through time became was it is today. I was not looking for that. But what I really am at peace with is the hard core fans that love the first movie really welcome this one, and that for me it means the world.”

I loved the film. I can’t wait till it comes out for me to own. In the theater that I saw it in, there were two couples that saw the original movie together in the theater, seated in the row right in front of me. It was awesome to see the movie through their eyes and get their perspective once they were done watching 2049. It just added to the film’s legacy. If you haven’t seen it yet, please take the time to watch it while it is still in theaters. You won’t regret it.

Jude Law To Join Brie Larson in CAPTAIN MARVEL!

Jude Law is in negotiations with Marvel to join Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. According to Variety, if he’s cast, he will take on the male lead role. Not much is known about who he will be playing, but according to the report, he will play a character that is “a mentor of sorts to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers.”

Law will also join Ben Mendelsohn who has been cast as the main villain in the story. That story follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight.

We also know that the film is set in the 90s, it would involve a war with the Skrull alien race, and Nick Fury will also be in the film. Samuel L. Jackson is expected to reprise his role, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Half Nelson directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are helming the film from a script written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider), Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy).

Jude Law, who will next star as Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, is a wonderfully talented actor and It’s pretty awesome that he will be joining the MCU party! He’s going to fit right in.

The movie is set to be released on March 8, 2019. Who do you think Law will end up playing in the film?

The AQUAMAN Film Won’t Use The Same Technique Used in JUSTICE LEAGUE For Talking Underwater

There was really only one scene in Justice League that gave us a taste of what fans could expect to see in James Wan‘s Aquaman film. Turns out one thing in particular featured in Justice League will not carry over to the solo film. That thing is how the characters talk to each other underwater.

The underwater action was really cool, especially with how Amber Herd‘s Mera was fighting. But, things get a little weird when Mera and Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman had to have a conversation. If you don’t want to know how this aspect of the film was handled, don’t read ahead.

In Justice League’s one Atlantis-set scene, Aquaman and Mera have to talk to each other after Steppenwolf steals the Mother Box that Atlantis has guarded for thousands of years. Mera uses her water-bending abilities to form a bubble pocket of air around herself and Aquaman, and it’s there that they talk about his past.

I thought that was a weird way to have these characters talk to each other and wondered if the Aquaman movie was going to be using these air bubble pockets throughout the course the film for conversations that need to take place. Thankfully, that’s not the case. Director James Wan tweeted out:

Now that that’s cleared up, I can’t wait to see how Wan is going to handle these Atlantian characters talking underwater. Could it be telepathically? Because that would be kind rad! Or will they just talk like they aren’t underwater? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21st, 2018.

Chris Hemsworth Battles The Taliban in Intense New Trailer For 12 STRONG

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for the upcoming war film 12 Strong: The Declassified True Story of the Horse Soldiers. The film is set after the events of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center as a team of elite soldiers are sent into Afghanistan to retaliate. These soldiers end up fighting a war on horseback. It looks like a great movie and I’m excited about watching it. The film is also filled with an amazing cast!

The movie looks great and it comes with an impressive cast that includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), Michael Peña (Ant-Man), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Geoff Stults (Only the Brave), Thad Luckinbill (The Young and the Restless), Austin Stowell (Bridge of Spies), Ben O’Toole (Hacksaw Ridge), Austin Hebert (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back), Kenneth Miller (Whiskey Tango Fotxtrot), Kenny Sheard (13 Hours) and Jack Kesy (The Strain). Here’s the synopsis:

12 Strong is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince Northern Alliance General Dostum (Nvid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies. In addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghani horse soldiers. But despite their uneasy bond, the new allies face overwhelming odds: outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless enemy that does
not take prisoners.

The film is based on the book by Doug Stanton and it was directed by Danish filmmaker Nicolai Fuglsig from a script by Ted Tally (Silence of the Lambs) and Peter Craig (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay).

12 Strong hits theaters on January 19, 2018.

Producer Colin Trevorrow has released a little clip from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom giving us our first look at actual footage from the film. All it shows is Chris Pratt‘s Owen Grady getting a little friendly with a little baby velociraptor. The clip came with the caption:

“From our Jurassic family to yours.”

There’s not much known about the sequel, but Trevorrow has previously described the sequel as being a “deeper, more character-based” film and that “it definitely leans into suspense.” He also said that there will be a big insane action sequence in the middle of the film.

I enjoyed the first film, regardless of its problems, and I’m looking forward to the sequel, especially with director J. A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) at the helm. I think he’s a great filmmaker and I’m excited to see what he does with this sequel.

The film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. We’ll also see the return of BD Wong‘s Dr. Henry Wu and Jeff Goldblum is reprising his role of Ian Malcolm! The movie also stars James Cromwell is as Benjamin Lockwood, who happens to be John Hammond’s old partner that developed the technology of cloning the dino genes. Justice Smith and Toby Jones have also joined the film. Oh yeah, the T-Rex will be back!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set to be released on June 22, 2018.

Toho’s SHIN GODZILLA Sequel Won’t Happen Until After 2020

I enjoyed the hell out of Toho’s Shin Godzilla! I’ve been wondering when we might see a sequel and unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a long time.

The deal that Toho ended up making with Legendary Pictures to make Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong prevents them from making a sequel to Shin Godzilla until after those movies are released. This means we’re going to have to wait until after 2020 before we see it happen.

Shin Godzilla co-director Shinji Higuchi recently spoke at G-Fest XXIV saying, explaining:

“A lot of people have questions. ‘When is the next Japanese Godzilla movie coming out?’ They cannot make it until after 2020.”

That’s a bummer and a shame. Even though I’m excited about Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla Vs. Kong, I’d be way more excited about a seeing a sequel to Shin Godzilla. If you haven’t seen Shin Godzilla yet, you need to! It’s so much fun!

The talk of Shin Godzilla starts at the 12:00 mark in the video below.
