Sylvester Stallone’s Role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Revealed?

Earlier this week Sylvester Stallone was rumored to have joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. That rumor seemed to be verified when he was reportedly spotted on the set of the film wearing a costume that looked a lot like what Judge Dredd would wear. We know he will not be reprising the role of Judge Dredd in the movie because the character is not a Marvel property. Ben speculated that he might be member of the Nova Corps, but that might not actually be the case.

Latino Review offers up some information on the character they have learned he plays. It looks like Stallone has really been cast in the movie and that he will have a small role in a few scenes that he’s already shot. So who is Stallone playing?

Well, we don’t have a name but the sites inside sources say that Stallone will be playing one of The Ravagers! They don’t go into any detail on his role because it would go into some spoiler territory. If this is true, he’ll definitely share some screen time with Michael Rooker. The actor will also join Sons of Anarchy‘s Tommy Flanagan, who has also been cast as one of The Ravagers.

What does James Gunn have to say about the rumor? This is what he posted on his Facebook page:

Sometimes rumors around ‪#‎GotGVol2‬ turn up that are batshit crazy. Other times rumors turn up that are batshit crazy AND untrue. Unfortunately, you’ll just have to wait a while to find out which ones are which. I’m done spoiling the fun.

Back to shooting a scene with Man-Thing and Chris Pratt.*

*All right, that one’s untrue. For now…

If there’s a rumor that isn’t true, the director usually is very blunt in saying it’s not true. In this statement, he’s not really confirming or denying Stallone’s involvement with the film, which tells me it’s true. We’ll just have to wait and see who exactly he’s playing.

Here’s a Look at HBO’s BEWARE THE SLENDERMAN Documentary Poster

Slenderman is probably one of the most prolific urban legends of this generation. Beginning as something of an internet meme it turned into a horror sensation that enraptured people. HBO has created a documentary that engages with the story of Slenderman called Beware of the Slenderman, but more specifically the real life crime that took place in his name.

The legend began innocently enough in 2009 on an internet forum that challenged people to manipulate real life images to seem supernatural. Forum user “Victor Surge” took the cake with horrifying images of children and what became known as Slenderman standing behind them. From there, the internet had its way with this new terrifying character and stories were written about him usually stalking or abducting children.

Since 2009, Slenderman was nothing more than a well-done and well-known horror character online. However, in 2014, two twelve-year-old girls in a small town in Wisconsin, took to the forest and stabbed a classmate 19 times. As if that scene wasn’t horrific enough, the young girls blamed their deeds on none other than Slenderman himself.

The HBO documentary will be premiering today, Friday, March 11, at SXSW, although there is no set date for when the movie will actually be featured on HBO. In the meantime, you can take a look at this pretty terrifying poster and brush up on your Slenderman lore.

Halle Berry in Talks to Join KINGSMAN 2 and 3

It looks like we might get to see Julianne Moore and Halle Berry face off in the Matthew Vaughn-directed Kingsman 2. Deadline reports that Berry is in discussions to play the head of the CIA. She’s up for a two-picture deal, so if cast she will not only be in Kingsman 2, but she will also be in Kingsman 3. Yep, there’s a third film on the horizon!

Moore will be playing the film’s villain, so the two characters will most definitely be at odds in the film. Unless there’s some kind of plot twist that makes the head of the CIA a villain!

This would bring Berry back into the Fox fold as that they also produced the X-Men films in which she played Storm. This could be a great gig for her. It’s been awhile since she’s done anything awesome. The last film she was in was X-Men: Days of Future Past, but she was hardly in it. Berry most recently starred in a new thriller called Kidnap, which is scheduled to be released in May.

Vaughn wrote the script for the sequel with Jane Goldman. Taron Egerton is reprising his role from the first film. Kingsman 2 is set to be released on June 16, 2017.

Collectible BATMAN V SUPERMAN 3D Glasses Revealed

These are the special limited edition Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice-themed RealD 3D glasses that will be available at select screenings of the film.

As you can see, the three designs they have here fare inspired bu Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. It’s a shame they don’t have glasses for Doomsday, Lex Luthor, Aquaman, Cyborg, or The Flash. I really wanted a pair of Aquaman 3D glasses!

If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to get yourself a pair when the film opens on March 25th.

THE TICK Gets an Official Pilot Order at Amazon!

Back in 2014, we learned that the live-action version of The Tick starring Patrick Warburton would be making a comeback at Amazon. Well, after two years of wondering if that was really going to happen, Deadline reports that Amazon has finally ordered a pilot episode! Unfortunately, Warburton is not expected to be involved in this series. Regardless of Warburton’s absence, I’m still freakin’ happy that the series is coming back!

The original live-action series aired on Fox in 2001, and it only lasted nine episodes. The Tick creator Ben Edlund is set to come back to write and executive produce the project, so we know that the crazy comedic superhero property is in the best hands possible.

The pilot already has some of the cast filled out. According to the report, Griffin Newman (Vinyl) will play Arthur Everest, and Valorie Curry (House of Lies, The Following) has been cast as his sister Dot Everest. There’s no other casting information right now, but they are on the hunt to find someone for the lead role. Here are some plot details that have been revealed:

The reboot will bring back the eponymous muscle-bound, antennae-sporting superhero, along with his sidekick Arthur (Newman), surrounded by a new host of characters. (The Fox series co-starred Liz Vassey as Captain Liberty and Nestor Carbonell as Batmanuel.)

In the new incarnation, the blue suit-wearing Tick is recovering from a memory loss. He ends up re-teaming with Arthur to fight evil. Newman’s Arthur, played in the Fox series by David Burke, had been labeled as a schizophrenic because of his statements that evil plans to rule the city, and no one believes him until he runs into Tick. Curry’s Dot Everest is a nurse who loves her brother Arthur to death and worries about him.

Fox is also in negotiations with Transcendence director Wally Pfister to helm the pilot which is being produced through Sony Pictures Television. He was also Christopher Nolan’s cinematographer on the Dark Knight trilogy

I’ve been a fan of The Tick ever since I was introduced to the character in the 1994 animated series. I’m excited to see how this series turns out!

Ryan Reynolds Moves Into Smaller Role as Jake Gyllenhaal Takes The Lead in Sci-Fi Film LIFE

Right after Deadpool hit theaters, word came out that star Ryan Reynolds would be reuniting with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and his Safe House director Daniel Espinosa for a sci-fi thriller called Life. That reunion is still in play, but instead of playing the lead role in the movie, Reynolds has slid into a supporting role while Jake Gyllenhaal has taken over as the protagonist.

THR reports that Reynolds had a scheduling conflict with another film, Hitman’s Bodyguard, and that’s why he’s having to take on a smaller role in Life, which focuses on a space station crew that finds a lifeform on Mars that turns out to be both intelligent and dangerous. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation’s Rebecca Ferguson is on board to co-star, and the story is said to be an ensemble piece, which makes sense when you consider that the actors will all be playing members of the space station crew. Gyllenhaal has done some of his best work over the past few years, so even though Reynolds is getting bumped down a little, this project is lucky to have such a great cast in place. Here’s hoping Espinosa can pull all of the elements together into something great.

Watch: Oscar Isaac is Terrific in This Bonkers Short Film — TICKY TACKY

I must admit that when I saw him in movies like Body of Lies, Sucker Punch, and Drive, I never anticipated that Oscar Isaac would become one of my favorite working actors. But he’s built an incredible career in a few short years, and it’s been great to watch him bring soulfulness, darkness, and charisma to his characters and become one of the most sought-after actors in the business. Yesterday was Isaac’s birthday, and The Playlist pointed me toward this excellent short film in which the actor gives one of his best performances. Written and directed by Brian Petsos, Ticky Tacky tells the increasingly crazy story of a man who reacts very poorly when he receives some bad news.

100+ Screenshots From The New CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Trailer and Commentary

I’m sure by now you’ve seen the new Captain America: Civil War trailer. I’ve watched it about 15 times already and went through it frame-by-frame because…well, why wouldn’t I!? This trailer was completely badass! This movie is going to be freakin’ incredible, and on top of that we finally got our first look at Spider-Man! A lot of fans don’t seem very happy with the new look for Spider-Man, but as a long-time fan of the character, who grew up reading the comics, I freakin’ love it! They gave him an awesome classic retro look that we have never seen before in the films, and he even has eye movement, which is so damn cool.

You can go through the collection of screenshots below. I included some commentary, too. Everything else is pretty easy to follow. Enjoy, and let us know what you think about some of the questions I raise!

I believe that the location above that’s rising out of the ocean is kind of a prison constructed by Tony Stark where the government can imprison the superheroes who aren’t willing to abide by the new laws.

Where does this yellow blast come from that shoots down War Machine? Maybe he was accidentally shot down by Vision, who is on Stark’s Team. Or maybe it is Baron Zemo, who we don’t see in the trailer. Zemo does have magical yellow stones in the comic. What do you think?

I just liked this shot of Cap’s shield flying back at him.

Who is locked in that yellow lit compartment in the background? Is it Vision?

Black Panther gets shot up a lot, but it doesn’t phase him in the slightest.

Remember Scarlet Witch’s power came from the same power stone that brought Vision to life, so as you can see, she can use her powers against him.

I couldn’t help but laugh at this scene above with Hawkeye. When you go frame by frame on the shot, you will notice the bow he’s shooting has absolutely no tension on it. There is no force pushing that arrow forward!

And for me, that’s the money shot! I can’t wait to see more Spider-Man and how he fits into the story. This is going to be so great!

VICE PRINCIPALS Trailer: Danny McBride and Walton Goggins Take Us to School in HBO Comedy

Here’s the first trailer for HBO’s new comedy Vice Principals, which brings Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride back to the premium network alongside Justified and The Shield star Walton Goggins. They play high school vice principals who are competing for the head principal job, and it looks like they’re both willing to go to some insane lengths to secure that position. The show premieres in July, and it’s already been picked up for 18 half-hour episodes spread across two seasons. McBride created the show with long-time producing partner David Gordon Green, who will be executive producing.

Let us know what you think about the trailer — does this look like another comedy hit from HBO?
