FOX has finally revealed the premiere date for The X-Files Season 11! It will premiere alongside the Ryan Murphy drama 9-1-1 on Wednesday, January 3rd!
This next The X-Files event series will consist of ten episodes. Two of them will continue the saga story, and the rest will be more standalone "monster of the week" episodes. I'm so excited to see what creator Chris Carter and his team have in store. When teasing what we can expect a previous report revealed:
With more monster-of-the-week episodes this season, fans can expect season 11 to be united in theme but varied in tone. After episode one delves into the Cigarette Smoking Man’s (William B. Davis) backstory and apparent family ties to Mulder, the second hour opens with a time jump to put distance between Mulder and Scully and the events of the premiere. And episode three is a darkly comedic hour, penned by Carter, focusing on doubles and doppelgängers. But beyond the humor, the larger mythology of The X-Files — like the fallout from Scully’s abduction and the chip that was implanted in her neck — continues to shape Mulder and Scully’s world.
Carter has also said that we’ll get a "new angle" on Mulder and Scully’s long-suffering FBI boss, Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) which is said to be an origin episode. He also adds that “Familiar alliances are rattled”.
The series brings back David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson who are returning to their roles of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi also returns as Walter Skinner along with Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Karin Konoval, Barbara Hershey, and Haley Joel Osment.
ABC has ordered a pilot for The French Detective, which is based on James Patterson‘s Luc Moncrief mysteries. ComingSoon.net reports that Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) is set to direct, it will also be his TV directorial debut and Jean Dujardin (The Artist) will star in the series.
The French Detective is written by Assassin's Creed scribes Bill Collage and Adam Cooper and Jonathan Collier (Bones). The show is being described as a “light procedural drama” and will tell the story of Parisian detective Luc Moncrief who joins the NYPD in an effort to start a new life.
The James Patterson series has three books; French Kiss, The Christmas Mystery and French Twist. On Amazon the description of French Kiss reads:
“Very handsome and charming French detective Luc Moncrief joined the NYPD for a fresh start–but someone wants to make his first big case his last. Welcome to New York.“
Dujardin is, of course, best known for playing the role of George Valentin in the 2011 movie The Artist. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Dujardin won the award for Best Actor.
Besson created the NBC series Taken, which is a prequel to his movie franchise.
Several wonderfully talented artists have come together to submit some awesome imaginative art for a book called Beginnings. The art book is being crowdfunded on Crowdwise and it all for charity to support children who are victims of the tragic events from all over the world. It's described as a way to "celebrate the innocence and wonder of childhood."
One of the coolest things about the book is that fact that it will be filled with the art showing us what inspired each of the artists when they were kids. So, there's a very personal touch to each piece that tells us something about the artist, which I think is pretty awesome.
Read through all the details and check out some examples of the art that will be in the book below. If you want to donate, click here.
Recent events across the world have had a devastating impact on many people’s lives. The earthquake in Mexico City, Hurricane Harvey in Houston, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico have all taken their toll - not to mention the many refugees that have been displaced over the last few years because of the conflict in Syria. Our hearts go out to all who have suffered so much, especially to the young children who are innocent that have been caught up in these tragic events. And because our hearts go out to them, we as artists are combining our efforts and doing what we do best - draw and paint.
The result is this beautiful digital art book called Beginnings, and the goal is to celebrate the innocence and wonder of childhood and to share that with all of you. We’ve partnered with the wonderful people at Save the Children and Crowdrise in order to thank you for your generous donation to their cause, which will directly bless the lives of many children that are in need right now. By making a donation of at least $10 to this campaign, you'll be able to pre-order a copy of Beginnings, which will be released for download in December 2017.
Each artist that contributed to this book was asked a simple question: what inspired you as a child? Maybe it was a person they looked up to. Or perhaps it was a beautiful location. It could have been a particular moment in time or a set of events that brings back feelings of nostalgia. Or maybe it was just the interesting way in which they saw the world as a kid. Each person answered for themselves and over 60 professional artists from around the world and from the various fields of animation, comics, cartooning, illustration, and visual development contributed, including: Max Grecke, Elsa Chang, Brett Bean, Wouter Tulp, Armand Serrano, Pernille Orum, Adam Rex, Floyd Norman, Gustavo Duarte, Dave Guertin and Greg Baldwin from CreatureBox, Nathan Fowkes, Ty Carter, and many more! Half the fun of this book will be in discovering the answers they came up with and gaining a little insight into their younger years. The other half of the fun, of course, will be in seeing all of the stunning new artwork that they spent hours creating in order to support this cause.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation to Save the Children! We hope you enjoy the book and that it, in return, becomes a source of inspiration to you..
I've had a change of heart recently when it comes to sequels. After seeing Blade Runner 2049, I really believe sequels can be a good thing when done right. Even when the sequel is decades after the original. And in the spirit of believing, I really believe the new Jumanji movie is going to be great.
The new trailer for Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle doesn't show too much of anything new. It feels mostly like it's focusing on showing off the Rock as much as possible. "Wow, isn't the Rock strong?", "The Rock is so handsome", "The Rock doesn't take anything from anybody". We get it, Dwayne, you are great! Even with all the focus on the Rock, it still is pretty cool. It gives a better idea of how this Jumanji is connected to the first.
In a brand new Jumanji adventure, the tables are turned as four teenagers are sucked into Jumanji’s world – pitted against rhinos, black mambas and an endless variety of jungle traps and puzzles. To survive, they’ll play as characters from the game: meek Spencer becomes a braveexplorer (Dwayne Johnson); hulky jock Fridge becomes a tiny genius (Kevin Hart); It-girl Bethany becomes a bookworm professor (Jack Black); and unathletic Martha becomes an amazonian warrior (Karen Gillan). To beat the game and return to the real world with their lives, they’ll have to start seeing things in an entirely different way.
I'm pumped about the film. All of these actors are funny and strong personalities that I think will be very interesting to see how they bounce off of each other. Especially considering they are all playing against type, which has to be a dream for many of them. Check out the new trailer below along with some new character posters!
Jumanji 2: Welcome to the Jungle was directed by Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard, Bad Teacher, and Sex Tape) and it will be released in theaters on December 22nd.
I love X-Men. I love Stranger Things. What would it be like if you were to combine the two? Well, gee, I'd have to say I'd love that so much my head might fall off. Well... somebody please hold on to my head.
Bosslogic, an artist who shares much of his work on social media has been doing some AWESOME mash-up art featuring the characters from Stranger Things as classic X-Men characters. He picks pretty solid choices for each one.
Lucas is Bishop, Mike is Cyclops, Eleven is Phoenix, Will is Iceman, and Dustin is Beast. It's so cool, and so perfect and now he's made some more with the adults and teens. Steve is Gambit, Nancy is Rogue, Hopper is Sabretooth, and Jonathan is Cannonball, because that's who he'll be in the upcoming New Mutants movie.
All of this is so amazing, and now I want Natalie Dyer to play Rogue more than I've wanted anyone to play anything. It's such a perfect fit. Check out a few of the images below and Bosslogic's Twitter for updates. Seriously, he's got some amazing stuff!
Martin Scorsese is currently shooting The Irishman in and around New York but it still isn't completely clear if the iconic filmmaker's movie will even make it to the big screen.
Scorsese is believed to have asked Netflix that the film get a theatrical run in 2019. Variety reports that sources familiar with the negotiations say Netflix’s film division chief, has told Scorsese that the film will have a minimum two-week theatrical window. That would at least qualify it for Oscar contention.
But Netflix head of film publicity Julie Fontaine recently told the news outlet that “it’s premature to say anything at this point.”
But even if Scorsese's film goes to theaters it will likely go out on the same day it is available to stream on Netflix, something the streaming giant usually does.
Production of the pic, whose All-star cast includes Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, Anna Paquin, Ray Romano and an out-from-retirement Joe Pesci, has faced several complications. For starters the film has been in development since 2008, then it was pulled out of turnaround at Paramount last year by Mexican producer Pavlovich.
Paramount withdrew when it became clear that the visual effects necessary to make De Niro’s character look 30 years younger in flashback scenes would push the film’s budget far past the initial $100 million estimate.
“We quickly realized that that Marty and De Niro really thought that the aging process was going to be a very important aspect of this film,” Pavlovich said.“The traditional [business] model was not going to work with this new vision of the project, and that’s when we entered conversations with Netflix.”
Calling all Silent Hill and Cuphead fans!!! Here's a great video we found where Cuphead runs around in the Silent Hill Resort from Silent Hill 3, with plenty of Heather and Robbie the Rabbit to feast your eyes on. Yes, yes, I know Pyramid Head did not actually feature in the game SH3, despite Silent Hill: Revelation movie's portrayal of Red Pyramid, but if you look past all the canon fodder, you may actually enjoy this fun bloody video. I know I did.
What did you think of it? Would you like to see some more Cuphead meets Silent Hill? Let us know in the comments.
J.R.R. Tolkien's son, Christopher Tolkien, who has led the Tolkien estate as its President for years. At 93-years-old he has resigned and stepped down as president and there's no doubt that this will change everything on how J.R.R. Tolkien's work is handled from here on out.
You see, even though Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy was a huge hit with critics and fans, Christopher hated what Jackson did with those films. He also was the guy who was blocking any of the other Middle Earth stories, outside of The Hobbit, from being adapted.
The news of Christopher's resignation comes from TheOneRing.net and with Christopher no longer in charge, there are sure to be a lot of big things coming involving the stories and characters from Middle Earth, especially with the new series that Amazon Studios is developing. He won't be there to block certain things from being played with.
It seems like he's been preparing to retire for a while. At 93-years-old it makes sense to retire! Christopher has been dedicated his life to preserving his father’s work, and over the years he's edited and published several stories and collections involving Middle Earth. The last thing he worked on was the publication of the book Beren and Luthien, and in the preface of the book, he says “this is (preemptively) my last book in the long series of editions of my father’s writings.”
The guy definitely deserves the respect from Tolkien's fans for what he has done with his father work over the years. There is honor in the work that he has accomplished. One thing I have to admire about Christopher is that he was more interested in preserving the legacy of his father than money. That mindset will probably leave with Christopher. The other remaining members of the estate are reportedly much more willing to negotiate and sell off the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien’s properties, so I'm sure we'll see a lot of people swooping in to try and get their hands on them. Those remaining members include J.R.R. Tolkien’s daughter, Priscilla Tolkien, and various grandchildren.
I doubt that Amazon will be the only studio that will get the rights to some of Tolkien's work. The report goes on to say:
This opens up Tolkien and Middle-earth as possible franchises in the same way that Harry Potter’s world is a place you can visit at Universal Studios or that Disney will soon have a Star Wars area. There are few properties in the world that can be talked about in the same way as Middle-earth. Warner Bros. see the value and so does Amazon.
That doesn’t mean the Tolkien Estate will move toward making the rights to “Beren And Luthien” available but it does mean my wish to produce “The Silmarillion” as HBO series is slightly less impossible than it was before. That is what has changed really. Things once impossible are now possible.
The estate may elect to only allow more content based solely on “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.” Or they may carefully cultivate the entire library.
It's going to be really interesting to see what happens now in bringing stories and characters from middle earth to life in film and TV. There's no doubt we'll see some big exciting things in the future with what Amazon Studio is developing an beyond.
Following the teaser trailer that was released today for Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox has revealed an official synopsis for the movie. It's definitely not what any of you were expecting! Here it is...
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
This synopsis had me busting up laughing! The marketing team for this franchise has got to be having the greatest time coming up with the promotional material for this movie! This synopsis was completely unexpected, at the same time it's exactly the kind of thing we should be expecting from Deadpool!
I can't wait to see what other fun surprises that the marketing team has in store for the fans in the future.
It also seems like the sequel has yet to get an official title. Until it does, we'll just continue to call it Deadpool 2. The movie hits theaters on June 1st, 2018
FOX has released a red-band trailer for Gotham for the upcoming episode of Season 4 involving Professor Pyg's story arc. This is such a delightfully disturbing villainous character and as you'll see, things look like they are going to get brutal and intense.
The next episode is called "Let Them Eat Pie", and sees Professor Pyg (MIchael Cerveris) takes his plan to the next level of insanity as Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is on a mission to stop the villain and bring him to justice. As you'll see, this isn't going to be an easy task for him as Pyg is beating and eating the shit out of Gotham.
Gotham's "Let Them Eat Pie" airs Thursday at 8pm on FOX.
