James Franco Confirms That He’s Developing a New X-MEN Film

Last week, it was reported that James Franco would star in and be involved with the development of a new X-Men film called Multiple Man. Franco has now officially confirmed that he is involved with a superhero project. He recently told THR:

“I do have a superhero that I am developing. I don’t know how much I can say. But I will say I am producing and performing in it. Or will perform in it. It’s early stages. I think probably what I can say is, like anything, there’s a need to develop more. I have a company with my brother now called Ramona Films. We’re developing all kinds of movies. Our bottom line MO is, how can we push this into new ground? A little bit, but still make it entertaining? So that separates it from what I was doing alone, me making a Cormac McCarthy film, pushing into the new frontier of necrophiliacs.”

He goes on to discuss what he loves about what X-Men franchise producer Simon Kinberg and FOX is doing with the X-Men franchise.

“What I love about what Simon Kinberg and Fox and the X-Men people have done with Deadpool and Logan — it took a while to get there, maybe 10 years, but they are going to go hard R. And we’re going to take, you know, this superhero thing and really just push it into a new genre. Deadpool‘s almost like an action romantic comedy. And Logan‘s like a western, you know? So we’re working with Simon Kinberg on an X-Men property…It’s in the X-Men universe.”

It’s always exciting to hear when filmmakers come out and say they want to do something different within a certain genre and change the game. I’m really curious to see what Franco, Kinberg, and their creative team will come up with for Multiple Man. He’s such an interesting Marvel character to play with.

Multiple Man is Jamie Madrox, who, in the comics, conveyed his cloning powers at birth, when a second, identical version of him appeared after the doctor slapped the infant to get him to breathe. His father, a worker at the Los Alamos Nuclear Research Center, moved his family to a remote farm where his son — fitted with a special suit to control his powers designed by X-Men patriarch Professor Xavier — lived quietly until the suit malfunctioned and he began to go crazy. His cloning abilities drove Madrox to have various collisions and collaborations with both the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Jeremy Kramer will oversee it for Fox and the deals are being made now.

After reading what Franco had to say, are you excited to see his take of Multiple Man?

STAR WARS Star Daisy Ridley Gives a Charming Interview While Building a LEGO Millennium Falcon

Elle has released a wonderfully charming video interview with Daisy Ridley that features the actress talking about being a part of the Star Wars franchise while building a LEGO Millennium Falcon. It’s a pretty fun idea and she is able to finish building the entire Millennium Falcon in five minutes! Ok, not really, but it’s still a great interview worth watching.

Daisy Ridley reprises her role as Rey in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and fans are eagerly waiting to see where this next chapter takes her! Judging from the cleverly cut trailers, it looks like she could turn to the Dark Side. I personally think that’s all misdirection, though. Rey can’t turn to the Dark Side! Or, can she? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Thanks to Clint Beastwood for explaining exactly who is trying to kill Net Neutrality, and showing us how we can be Neo and stop this thing!

James Cameron Talks About His AVATAR Sequels and “Building a Greater Kind of Meta Narrative”

After years of preparation, James Cameron is finally shooting his Avatar sequels. The first of these sequels is set to hit theaters eleven years after the original and fans are wondering if these sequels are going to be just as successful.

We don’t know much about the story, but we do know that a lot of this first sequel is going to take place underwater and we are going to be introduced to a lot of new characters. Most notably the kids of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldana), who will play a large role over the course of the sequels.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Cameron talked about the sequels and also working with his Titanic star Kate Winslet after all these years:

“She’s very excited about it. She blazed through for a couple of days of rehearsals and saw the world that we had created, and how we do the work, and she’s very excited. She plays a character who’s part of the Sea People, the reef people. The one thing she did do is demand that she do all her own water work. I said, ‘All right, that’s fine, we’ll have to teach you how to free dive.’”

Since a lot of the movie takes place underwater, all of the actors have had to take some free-diving lessons. To shoot some of these scenes the actors need to hold their breath several minutes at a time. Cameron reveals:

“The other actors are up to three- and four-minute breath holds. We’ve already been doing underwater capture. We did a scene last week with six teenagers, well, actually five teenagers and one 7-year-old underwater holding their breath for a couple minutes and acting, actually doing a dialogue scene under water because they speak kind of a sign language.”

That’s so cool! Cameron is obviously looking to get the underwater look as authentic as possible. It’s going to be really interesting to see how these underwater scenes turned out. Cameron previously talked about the challenges of doing motion capture work under water.

The director went on to discuss all of the delays that the film had gone through over the years saying:

“I wouldn’t call them delays. It was highly optimistic that we could start quickly until scripts are written. If there’s no scripts, there’s nothing, right? The scripts took four years… We’re doing very well because of all the time that we had to develop the system and the pipeline and all that. We weren’t wasting time, we were putting it into tech development and design. So when all the scripts were approved, everything was designed. Every character, every creature, every setting.”

I’m glad that Cameron got his scripts for the films complete before they started shooting. Hollywood is known for starting film productions with unfinished scripts and a lot of the time, those movies end up being crap. The director went on to talk about how the future of the franchise depends on if audiences actually show up to watch the first couple of sequels.

“Let’s face it, if Avatar 2 and 3 don’t make enough money, there’s not going to be a 4 and 5. They’re fully encapsulated stories in and of themselves. It builds across the five films to a greater kind of meta narrative, but they’re fully formed films in their own right, unlike, say, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where you really just had to sort of go, ‘Oh, sh*t, all right, well I guess I better come back next year.’ Even though that all worked and everybody did.”

I really do hope that these new Avatar films end up being a success because I do want to see Cameron’s full vision of these films realized.

The Avatar sequels will see the return of Joel David Moore, Matt GeraldSigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi, and Stephen Lang, who will be back as the main villain. Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin are also in the sequels.

The Avatar sequels are currently shooting and with a budget of $1 billion dollars. Fox is releasing Avatar 2 on December 18, 2020, Avatar 3 on December 17, 2021, Avatar 4 on December 20, 2024, and Avatar 5 on December 19, 2025.

WB Offered To Give Henry Cavill a CGI Moustache in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 But Paramount Said No

Warner Bros. apparently really tried to work out a deal with Paramount Pictures to allow Henry Cavill to shave his mustache off for Justice League. Unfortunately, Paramount said no, and that’s after WB sent them some samples of what they could do with adding a stash to Cavill’s face for Mission: Impossible 6

A VFX artist who worked on Justice League recently took part in an AMA on Reddit, and when asked what his reaction was when he found out he had to remove the mustache via CGI, he said:

“A mix – to some people it’s a cool little project to get stuck in to and another problem to solve, which is what a lot of VFX is about. Challenging. To me, as a fan, I was annoyed haha Paramount should’ve shaved him and stuck a fake one on for MI6. Ridiculously petty of them. We did tests on already shot footage of Superman to add a beard as well to show the MI6 team at Paramount it was loads easier, and Warner Bros offered to pay for all the beard adding shots in MI6. They said no.”

It kinda sucks that Paramount wouldn’t work with them on this issue because it would have been a hell of a lot easier for them to add hair than remove it.

For me, the CGI upper lip of Superman was one of my biggest issues with the film because it kept pulling me out. It’s like a stain on a movie that you’ll never be able to get out. Regardless of that, I still enjoyed it.

What do you think about Paramount Pictures not willing to work with WB on letting Cavill shave his stash?

New Photo From STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Features an Army of Snowtroopers

A cool new photo from Star Wars: The Last Jedi has surfaced on Empire featuring an army of menacing-looking Snowtroopers. There’s not really any information on what is going on in this image but the report says the First Order Snowtroopers are “storming into the breach.”

Evoking echoes of The Empire Strikes Back‘s Hoth troopers, the snowtroopers boast personal environment suits with insulated armour and glare-reducing slit visors, perfectly suiting them for cold weather offensives.

This is one of many new photos from the film that Empire will release throughout the week, so stay tuned for more.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released on December 15th!

SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Admits The Joker Should’ve Been The Main Villain

It seemed like a lot of fans were surprised to learn that after Jared Leto had been cast as The Joker in Suicide Squad, he was hardly in the film. We know that a lot of footage was shot of the character, but ultimately most of it ended up not being used. Like many of you, I assumed The Joker was going to have a much bigger part of the story. Instead, Cara Delevinge‘s Enchantress ended up being the main villain. Some fans didn’t really care for her as the villain, while others seemed to embrace it. I actually kinda liked Enchantress. I liked her more that Leto’s portrayal of The Joker. I know not everyone, will agree with me on that. That’s just my opinion.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer recently responded to a tweet from actor Norman D. Golden II, who recently watched the film for the first time and commented that he enjoyed it. Ayer used this as an opportunity to share some thoughts on the film saying it could’ve been a bigger success if he had done things differently:

Another fan jumped in and said that it was better than Batman v Superman, then added that The Joker should have been the villain, to which Ayer responded:

I figured that the reason we saw so little of The Joker in Suicide Squad is because they were going to set him up for a much bigger story. Which they are doing with the upcoming Joker and Harley Quinn movie that is currently in development. When previously talking about the film, the director said:

“Wish I had a time machine. I’d make Joker the main villain and engineer a more grounded story. I have to take the good and bad and learn from it.”

David Ayer is currently working on developing Gotham City Sirens for Warner Bros. and I’m actually looking forward to seeing what he does with it. With the things that he learned from his first go-around with DC, I’m sure his next film set in the universe will be much better.

What do you think about Ayer’s comments about how he should’ve made The Joker the main villain in Suicide Squad?

Watch Tom Hardy Do A Lot Of MMA And Kickboxing To Prepare For VENOM

watch-tom-hardy-do-a-lot-of-mma-and-kickboxing-to-prepare-for-venom-social.jpg

Tom Hardy is doing a lot of MMA and kickboxing training in preparation for his role as Eddie Brock in Venom, and even though I have no clue what that has to do with the role or the character, I’m excited to see him strut his stuff in some symbiote! In this video, Hardy’s trainers talk about his level of dedication to the role and tease he’s going to play “One of the darkest, most powerful super-villains that Marvel has ever created.”

It will certainly be interesting to see as a whole movie about Venom feels like a stretch, but if it’s all a lead up to an encounter with Spider-man I’m absolutely all for that showdown! Check out the video of Hardy below, and show some appreciation for his hard work and dedication below.

Netflix Drops Haunting Trailer For John Hillcoat’s BLACK MIRROR Season 4 Episode “Crocodile”

On the heels of one Season 4 trailer for Black Mirror, we get another! That’s no big deal, of course, considering each episode is a stand-alone product, but I do have one issue. Netflix is teasing the hell out of Season 4…but offering no release date as to when we can expect to see it! What the hell guys?! Do you just want to torture us? I need my sweet sci-fi stories that make me feel uncomfortable for days following!

Check out the trailer for Crocodile below, and once again be frightened with the future we could one day live in.

Crocodile was directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless) and stars Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Bloodline), Andrew Gower (Outlander), and Kiran Sonia Sawar (Murdered By My Father).

Marvel Studios Has 20 More Marvel Movies in the Pipeline That Are “Different From Anything That’s Come Before”

We already know that Avengers 4 will bring an end to not only the third phase of the MCU, but it will be the conclusion to everything that started with Iron Man. There will be 22 films in the first three phases of Marvel’s movie plan. After that, everything is going to be different.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that Avengers 4 will “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale. There will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting.”

As for what comes after, we don’t know much. We know the first film after Avengers 4 will be the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. We also know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be used to launch a new overreaching story arc in the MCU. As for how many films that story arc will entail, Feige reveals that they have 20 films already in the pipeline!

He says that Marvel Studios is “22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before – intentionally.” Disney CEO Bob Iger adds, “We’re looking for worlds that are completely separate — geographically or in time — from the worlds that we’ve already visited.”

This is pretty damn exciting and I can’t wait to find out what else Marvel has got cooking! I seriously doubt we’ll find out anything until after Avengers 4 is released. James Gunn has a big role in shaping what we are going to see from Marvel in the future, and I have no doubt things are going to get pretty wild.

When talking about the future of Marvel, Scarlett Johansson says:

“I feel a lot of joy for the next generation. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but a positive one.”

Marvel Studio has 7,000 characters that they can work with, and I love that they are looking to really change things up and take the films in a completely different direction with lots of completely different characters.

With another 20 films being planned out, Marvel has the next 10 to 15 years already planned out and I seriously doubt that it’s going to stop there. Marvel’s future looks bright and it’s going to be fun when they eventually start to pull back the curtain on their exciting fiuture.
